Recent changes in audio book sales and royalties calculations have meant that the amount retained by the platforms, after production costs, has gone from ‘everything’ to ‘quite a bit more than everything’ and, sadly and bluntly, the current model for Anty Boisjoly audio books is no longer viable.
There may be a way, however, of not only keeping audio books in production but reducing the cost by cutting out the middleman.
The proposal is pre-production pre-orders. Essentially, listeners buy the audio book before it exists, and when the cost of production has been raised, the book is produced and backers get early access. The investment would be less than the cost of a single month of Audible and each title would need slightly over 200 backers to get made, but if the target isn’t reached then everyone would get their money back.
This little poll is intended to gauge whether or not we should try this new method. I’d really appreciate your honest views.

I would definitely do this. You could also consider Book Funnel. Caimh McDonnel makes all his Dublin trilogy audiobooks available through there.

Book Funnel is an excellent audiobook distribution platform if that helps. Caimh McDonnell uses it for his Dublin Trilogy books and it works great from the user side at least. I really hope Anty and eventually Teddy get the full audiobook treatment for all their adventures!!

yes, book funnel is excellent and we know what a mess audible always makes of getting an anty book out. do consider this. would also agree to pre order plan but book funnel would seem easier. sara rosett uses it all the time since a fiasco with audible. both her murder on location, high society lady detective series.

any way you can get the books to audio will be fine with me. just try to manage it as they are so brilliant.

Can’t imagine life without Anty!!! And Tim Bruce just brings him to life. I preorder the books on Kindle, why wouldn’t I do the same on Audible.

This is a great idea. I have bought all your audiobooks and will pay full price sound unheard. And they will be available on Libby afterward, too. That will bring in more fans!

This is brilliant idea!

Honestly, happy to purchase, preorder, whatever in any form to keep the audiobook verions coming.

i would be so happy to support the audiobooks, I absolutely love them!

Anything that keeps the wonderful audio versions going I’m happy to support. I wouldn’t have picked up the first book if I hadn’t listened to the audio version.

My honest view is I would do pretty much anything to keep the Anty Boisjoly audiobooks coming.

I am a fan of both Anty and Tim, so I would definitely pre-purchase a delightful Anty audiobook.
