The official pre-Christmas hype edition of the newsletter (aka; November) is now in the newsletter archive, in a convient link just under the form you can use to sign up to get the newsletters as they come off the press.
The Christmas number has just been sent out to subscribers, and it includes a seasonal parody cartoon and a cast list for The Case of the Ghost of Christmas Morning, as mere support matter for the meat of the mail, a cover reveal of the next Teddy Quillfeather.
Will the Teddy Quillfeather series be available as audiobooks?
Yes, thank you very much for asking — Teddy Quillfeather will begin recording when the third book in the series is released, which is planned for late spring or early summer.
The conversation between now and then is to Tim or not to Tim. Tim Bruce is the voice of Anty Boisjoly, so should he also be the (third person, bear in mind) narrator of Teddy Quillfeather? Should the reader be a female voice? Do listeners have a preference?
These are fun problems to have and we’re very much looking forward to getting started in any case.
Thank you very much for reading and listening.
Yay! I look forward to listening.
The narration dilemma is a tough one. I have quit many an audiobook because of a bad—or just wrong—narrator. Tim Bruce is fantastic and truly is the voice of Anty and the rest. He sounds like he enjoys reading the books. I’d be happy to listen to Mr. Bruce read the Teddy series.
Good characterization in voice actors can be a mixed blessing: long time voicing by one actor will make it hard to forget that voice when starting an entirely new series/character. The trick is to find someone just as good for the new- if not, it could be the death of an audiobook. Barbara Rosenblat is Amelia Peabody and all her voiced characters from that series are what I hear every time I listen to her voice other books. Same for Jenny Sterling who performs in the Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes series. But if the absolutely perfect Tim/Anty combo can be recycled as Tim/Teddy then I will still be all for it, I only offer my thoughts as ‘the other side of the coin’. I truly wish ALL the Anty books were available in audio editions as Tim so perfectly captures Anty’s character.
Well, well- I am quite behind the mark because I see that my wish for all the Anty books in audio editions has been granted! Please forgive my earlier ignorance and I am pleased to now have ebook and audiobook editions in my library!
