Teddy Nearly Ready

anty-christie-newsletter-cartoon

There’s a cheeky new cartoon featuring Anty Boisjoly and his cousin Teddy Quillfeather, about whom there will shortly be an official announcement. Subscribers to the newsletter have already worked out what that is, in the main, and are in broad agreement that it’s been a rollercoaster and that it’s a good job I’m not in charge of anything very important.

Owing to the pace of developments, the most recent TWO newsletters have made it to the archive a little earlier than usual and are available here and now.

  1. I’m looking forward to getting to know Teddy. Can you tell me where you described the difference between Anty’s personality and Teddy’s? I can’t remember where I read it or heard it but I loved the description of Anty. It put into words the quality I love about him.

    • Do you know, you and I are pondering the exact same thing at the exact same moment. I wrote the juxtaposition initially for the newsletter but there’s also a variation now in the what we call the ‘backmatter’ of the book and, bringing us to the moment, a version that I’m finessing for a press release. Currently it goes like this:

But Teddy is not a female Anty Boisjoly. Where Anty’s capricious, she’s mischievous, where Anty’s deductive, Teddy gets fully involved in the mystery as it unfolds, and as the locked room murder is to Anty Boisjoly the clever caper is to Teddy Quillfeather.
Indeed, there are no murders in Teddy Quillfeather Mysteries. Instead, Teddy takes a turn towards the manor house mystery of manners, to which she brings proactive problem solving that often sees her fully implicated in capers involving smooth swindles and highwire heists, sticky fingers and loaded dice, and dark horses running dodgy courses.

Incidentally, the new cover has, in so far as it’s possible with a long-distance view of Teddy, incorporated your observations. When it’s done there’ll be a concrete release date announced.

      • Capricious! That is it. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question

Anty told the biddies in R at the RR that the waters around the island were full of buried treasure. Why did he tell them this? I don’t know, but doing so amused him. And, of course, there were consequences and that amused him too. And me. That is Anty’s delightful caprice.

The fabulous cover to Teddy’s debut book just hit my inbox and I am honored to have had a small part in its development. She is going to be fun!
